About the Library

The Polk County Public Library is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina. Our libraries serve the communities of Columbus, Tryon, Saluda, Mill Spring, Sunnyview, Green Creek, Lynn, Pea Ridge, Collinsville, and all points in between. The Main Library is located in Columbus, just south of I-26 on Hwy. 108.

The Saluda branch library is located up the mountain in an historic building on the north end of the town’s main street.

Our Bookmobile serves residents who are not able to get to our other locations. We visit retirement communities, day care centers, schools, and other locations in the county (see link at left for the current schedule).

Together we have in our collections more than 60,000 books, DVDs, CDs, and other resources. We offer free wireless internet, public computer labs, and child-friendly computers, as well as classes and workshops.

Our library also hosts an award-winning children’s program, adult programs such as reading groups and guest speakers, and other events and community meetings throughout the year.

Our library is a member of the CMC Library Consortium, which means that we share resources with Isothermal Community College and libraries in neighboring Rutherford County.
