Afternoon Adventures

Afternoon Adventures is designed for children in grades K-5 and made possible through a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation. Afternoon Adventures is at the Main Library in Columbus on Tuesdays at 4pm and at the Saluda Community Library every other Monday at 4pm. There will be no programs on Nov. 25, Dec. 23, Dec. 29, or Dec. 30.

Dec. 1 & 2: Zumba
Zumba is a fitness program that involves dance and aerobic elements. Professional Zumba Kids instructor Tonya Lindsey will teach the class. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring water to quench your thirst!
Dec. 9 & 15: Lego Fun
Legos are more than just entertainment; they make learning fun and creative. Come check out the library’s awesome new Lego collection and use your imagination to make cool creations!
Dec. 16 (Main Library only): Gymnastics
Gymnastics involves the performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, power, agility, coordination, grace, balance, and control. Jana Williamson from Foothills Gymnastics Academy will teach a basic tumbling class. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring water to quench your thirst!

Sam the therapy dog will be at the Saluda Community Library with his owner, Nancy Weinhagen, every other Monday at 4pm (Nov. 24, Dec. 8, & Dec. 22). Sam loves to listen to stories. Kids can have fun and improve their reading skills at the same time!

Pre-School Storytime

Pre-School Storytime is designed for children ages 2-5. This program is at the Main Library in Columbus on Tuesdays at 10:30am and at the Saluda Community Library on 1st & 3rd Mondays at 10:30am. There will be no storytimes on Nov. 24, Dec. 23, or Dec. 30.

Dec. 1 & 2: Let It Snow
Dec. 9 (Main Library only): Local children’s author Joanne Midyette will read her book “Reeta Book Reads To Everything.” For more info, visit the author’s website.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Libraryimaginationlibrary

FREE BOOKS! All children who live in Polk County can receive one free book per month from the time they are born until they turn five years old! Come to the library and fill out a survey and registration form and return them both to Jen, Youth Services Librarian. Your child will start receiving free books in eight to ten weeks! This program is coordinated by Partnership for Children of the Foothills.
