Baby Bookworms is designed for youth ages 0-2. This program is year-round at the Main Library in Columbus on Thursdays at 10:30am and is made possible through a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation.
Pre-School Storytime is designed for youth ages 2-5. This program is only during the school year and will resume in September.
Summer Reading starts June 10!
- Sign up at the library for a reading log and goodies.
- Earn prizes for reading throughout the summer!
- We will also have grand prize drawings for a kayaking trip and themed prize packs.

YOUTH ENGAGED WITH SCIENCE DISCOVERY PROGRAMS
4th Fridays at 4pm
June 26: Reptiles Live
What are reptiles? Where can we find them? You will go on a journey of discovery as you take an up-close and personal look at several live animals! We’ll discover how these unique creatures thrive and realize the important role they play in our environment. At the end of our reptilian journey, we’ll touch the animals!
July 24: Science Shenanigans
What is science? How can we find it? You will be in for the thrill of a lifetime as we conduct multiple science demonstrations that bring chemistry and physics alive!
August 28: Super Sonic Light Speed
You will go on a super-sonic adventure as we discover how light and sound work through several dazzling demonstrations!
September 25: Rainforest Wonders
Let’s take a journey to the tropical rainforest! You will learn about the diversity of plants, animals, and people who call the rainforest home. We’ll also examine products that are made using ingredients from the rainforest.
October 23: Spooky Science
Your hair will literally be standing on end as we conduct several spooky science experiments. We’ll use solid carbon dioxide to create spook-tacular bubbles. We’ll make yellow foam ooze out of a jack-o-lantern. This action-packed Halloween science show is fun for the whole family!
DOLLY PARTON’S IMAGINATION LIBRARY
FREE BOOKS! All children who live in Polk County can receive one free book per month from the time they are born until they turn five years old! Come to the library and fill out a survey and registration form and return them both to Jen Pace, Youth Services Librarian. Your child will start receiving free books in eight to ten weeks! This program is coordinated by Partnership for Children of the Foothills.
