PCPL Offers Homebound Outreach Services

COLUMBUS, N.C., (February 22, 2016) – Are you or someone you know homebound? Would having access to library materials such as books, music CDs, and DVDs be beneficial to your quality of life? Do you reside within Polk County, NC? Polk County Public Library is now offering free homebound outreach services. Delivery is available to residences, assisted living facilities, retirement homes, and nursing homes.

This program helps fulfill the library’s mission by offering outreach services to residents within Polk County who are homebound due to illness or disability and are physically unable to visit the library. Customers must have a library card and complete an application. Applications will be reviewed by library staff and the customer will be notified of the beginning service date.

Library staff will deliver up to 12 items monthly. Request are honored when possible or items will be selected according to your suggestions and areas of interest. There will be no late fines or fees on materials checked out through this program; however, if items are damaged or lost, there will be charges to cover the cost of the item.

“I hope to reach many readers that I was unable to in the past,” says Outreach Services Manager Rita Owens. “I am excited to be able to continue outreach services in the form of a homebound program.” Applications are available for download at www.polklibrary.org.
