Cookbook Club at PCPL

COLUMBUS, N.C., (November 4, 2015) – Book clubs already involve getting together with friends and eating, so why not make it the focus? As a member of Polk County Public Library’s Cookbook Club, you’ll get to learn how to prepare new dishes, share your love of cooking with others, taste new foods, make new friends, and have fun!

What is Cookbook Club? Like with a book club, members meet to discuss books and enjoy each other’s company over great food. Unlike with a book club, where the host is often in charge of providing much of the food and drink, meetings are a potluck meal; the dishes come from themed cookbooks. Members don’t have to be serious, experienced cooks; enthusiasm for cooking is more important.

How does it work? Meetings are monthly; discussion is around a theme; you cook a dish of your choosing around the chosen theme of the month and bring it to the meeting.

The first meeting of the club will be Monday, November 9th at 12pm at the main branch of the library in Columbus. The theme for November’s meeting is Classic American. For more information, contact Jimmi Buell at the Polk County Extension Office at (828) 894-8218.

Polk County Public Library has a Main Library in Columbus and a branch in Saluda, as well as outreach services. PCPL offers books, movies, music, audiobooks, downloadable ebooks and audiobooks, public computers, and wireless internet access. To learn more, visit www.polklibrary.org.
