Kids mycology program at Saluda Library

SALUDA, N. C., (August 25, 2026) Kids ages 5 and older are invited to Saluda Library on Thursday, September 3rd for a “Mushroom Makers” program with mycologist Lizza Bixby! Space is limited and registration is required. Sign up at polklibrary.libcal.com or email Jen at jdickenson@polklibrary.org.

In this hands-on program, we will get messy and discover the magic of mushrooms! Kids will learn how fungi can grow on everyday materials like cardboard, turning waste into something wonderful, and explore the basics of how mushrooms grow and why they’re important to our environment. Each child will start their own mushroom-growing project to take home.

Polk County Public Libraries has two libraries, Columbus Library and Saluda Library, with books, movies, music, audiobooks, and downloadable eBooks and audiobooks available for checkout, as well as public computers and wireless internet access.
