Cartooning Workshop 05/05/2026 , 3:30 PM at PCPL Columbus Cartooning Workshop Steve Barr, local cartoonist and founder of Drawn to Help, will teach us how to draw cartoons! Steve uses a simple step-by-step technique that makes it easy for anyone to follow along. Everyone will learn how to create their very own cartoon characters while they're encouraged to chase their own dreams and shoot for the stars! This program is designed for kids, but open to all ages.

This interactive reading program is aimed at encouraging kids to read aloud in a safe and positive environment. Sign up here! All participants must sign a waiver. Circle of Parents 05/06/2026 , 9:30 AM at PCPL Columbus Circle of Parents This program, led by Partnership for Children of the Foothills, is for parents of children from birth to five years old. Come share the challenges and successes of parenting with other parents just like you, while gaining and sharing useful information and tips on how to strengthen your family. Experienced child care teachers provide on-site age appropriate activities, supervision, and fun (including the weekly library storytime when in session) for children up to five years of age, while parents and guardians are busy in group discussion and activities. Environmentally Friendly Landscaping 05/12/2026 , 2:00 PM at PCPL Saluda Environmentally Friendly Landscaping Learn about environmentally friendly garden techniques that you can implement this spring to make your garden a friendly place for wildlife, including pollinating insects! Healthy environments can be achieved by reducing lawns, holistic tree health care and protection, and utilizing native plants. Presenter Steve Pettis is a Henderson County Extension Agent and host of the Gardening in the Mountains radio show and podcast. He has been in the plant business for 35 years and works with home gardeners, landscape professionals, and local municipalities to make our built environments more natural and environmentally friendly. Register for the program here. The Saluda Library Speaker Series is held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 44 West Main Street, Saluda, NC. This program series is made possible thanks to Polk County Public Libraries' partnership with Conserving Carolina. Create a drawing or painting and connect with others in a relaxed, supportive space. This program is for adults only – beginners welcome! Registration is required and space is limited.
