Rising Readers is our preschool storytime program filled with stories, songs, crafts, and more. Each week features a unique theme. This program is designed for youth ages 2-5 and supports early literacy development.

October 6 Theme: The letter B

Sept. 1 – Oct. 20: Kindergarten-2nd Grade
Oct. 27 – Dec. 15: 3rd-5th Grade

Oct. 6: Flying Marshmallows for grades K-2
Send marshmallows flying through the air using popsicle sticks and rubber bands. Figure out what positions work best, then measure the flight to prove it.

Naturalist and forager Todd Elliott will take you on a wander through the woods, looking at edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms on the nature trail behind the Polk County Public Library. Elliott will also share details and wild facts about the ecology and biodiversity of the Southern Appalachians.
