Free, individualized tax assistance and preparation, is available from AARP Foundation Tax-Aide at the Columbus Library.  You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service.

Assistance will to be available every Wednesday through April 13 at the Columbus location by appointment only. To make an appointment, call  828-894-8721 ext. 221 or visit the Columbus Library.

Individuals must remember to bring to their appointment the following items:

• Federal tax return from the previous year
• Photo Identification
• Social Security card
• Proof of medical insurance
• Relevant 2015 tax information (e.g. 1099, 1099R, W2, brokerage statements, etc.)
• A blank check (to authorize a direct deposit on any tax refund)

Parents and caregivers of infants up to 24 months are invited for stories, bouncy rhymes, and playtime with special sensory toys. Learn fun techniques for using books, songs, and rhymes at home.
