Friends of PCPL Book Sale 04/10/2019 - 04/13/2019 , 12:00 AM at PCPL Columbus Special Preview Day (for Friends only): Wednesday, April 10 from 3-7pm Public Sale: Thursday, April 11 from 9am-7pm Public Sale: Friday, April 12 from 9am-5pm (select books free starting at 3pm) Public Sale: Saturday, April 13 from 9am-3pm ($5 bag sale from 9am-12pm) Columbus Library On Wednesday, April 10, current members of the Friends and those who join that day will have exclusive access to the book sale and the first opportunity to peruse and purchase from the thousands of books, CDs, and DVDs featured at the sale. Come take advantage of the Special Preview Day and bring a friend to join the Friends. Annual memberships with the nonprofit Friends group are $10 for individuals and $15 for families living in the same household. Individual lifetime memberships are $100. Membership forms will be at the book sale and also can be downloaded here. The sale will feature thousands of gently used items including a wide array of fiction and nonfiction titles in hardcover and paperback as well as DVDs and CDs. Items have been donated by members of the community or withdrawn from circulation at Polk County Public Libraries. Most items at the sale will be priced at $1 or less. The Friends book sales are the primary fundraisers for the nonprofit Friends group with all proceeds going to support library projects and initiatives such as summer reading programs, special events, professional development opportunities for library staff, appreciation events for library volunteers, and free programs for adults and children. Family Fun Storytime 04/10/2019 , 10:30 AM at PCPL Saluda Children ages 0-5 will enjoy stories, songs, and a special craft or activity! There will also be a dance party with Polk County Parks & Rec after storytime on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. (Note: The dance party will be on the 3rd Wednesday in March 2019.)

April 10: The Mule (rated R) Starring Clint Eastwood: Broke, alone and facing foreclosure on his business, 90-year-old horticulturist Earl Stone takes a job as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. April 17: On the Basis of Sex (rated PG -13) Starring Felicity Jones: Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a struggling attorney and new mother who faces adversity and numerous obstacles in her fight for equal rights. April 24: Mary Poppins Returns (rated PG) Starring Emily Blunt: Decades after her original visit, the magical nanny returns to help the Banks siblings and Michael's children through a difficult time in their lives.
Super Smash Brothers Tournament 04/10/2019 , 4:00 PM at PCPL Saluda *Grades 6-12 Only* Compete in a Super Smash Brothers tournament on the Wii U on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from March-May. The winner each month takes home a trophy!
