Elementary Explorers 01/06/2020 , 4:00 PM at PCPL Saluda Saluda Library – Mondays @ 4pm Columbus Library – Tuesdays @ 4pm For kids in grades K-5 and their families. Jan 6 & 7: Illusionology Learn about illusion art, then make your own! Design a thaumatrope, illusion spinner, and pieces to put into a radial symmetry wall mural. Jan 13 & 14: Wizardology Become a wizard with magical science experiments… Abracadabra disappearing color, unpoppable bubbles, and growing ice! Jan 21: Mythology Make your own mini Greek pita pizza and watch Hercules (rated PG). Note: No program at Saluda Library this week; closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Jan 27 & 28: Dragonology Celebrate Lunar New Year while learning about dragons in Asian cultures.
Friends of the Polk County Public Libraries Annual Meeting 01/06/2020 , 6:00 PM at PCPL Columbus The board will conduct a short meeting including the appointment of new officers and board members, followed by a presentation by local author Sally Hursey. Refreshments will be served! Sally Hursey is a local children's book author who has published two books up to this date. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and especially enjoys writing stories about dogs. She lives with her husband and two dogs in the Carolina mountains.
