Mammals of WNC 11/06/2025 , 4:00 PM at PCPL Columbus Mammals of WNC Join us for an educational program with the North Carolina Arboretum to learn all about the many different types of mammals that call Western North Carolina their home! Ever wondered why some wild mammals hibernate and some don’t? Or how to tell if a wild mammal has visited an area? At this program we’ll answer these questions and more! Come ready to hear about the ecoEXPLORE program, get up close and personal with some mammal artifacts such as skulls and skins, find out what makes a mammal a mammal, plus much more! This program is for ages 5-13.

Nintendo Switch Hang Out 11/13/2025 , 3:30 PM at PCPL Columbus Nintendo Switch Hang Out Kids in 5th grade and younger are invited to bring their own Nintendo Switch/controllers to play at the library with new friends, or play Mario Kart on the library’s Switch. This is a drop-in program, so come for all three hours, or just a bit!

Cooking Up Stories 11/18/2025 , 4:00 PM at PCPL Saluda Cooking Up Stories This new program for K-5th graders combines picture books with delicious dishes! Registration required as space is limited. Email jdickenson@polklibrary.org by the Thursday before each session to sign up. Sessions may be cancelled if not enough participants register. Cherokee Tales 11/24/2025 , 4:00 PM at PCPL Columbus Bright Star Touring Theatre presents Cherokee Tales The Cherokee People have a rich history of myths, legends, and folktales explaining everything from the creation of the world to how the plants and animals around us came to look and behave the way they do today. Developed in partnership with the Cherokee Historical Association, this play introduces young audiences to the Cherokee people through a series of fun and engaging stories. This program is designed for K-6th graders, but anyone is welcome to attend.
