Pick up your challenge card at the library starting June 11 and mark each box when you complete the challenge. Get a prize at library when you finish five! (The first 60 participants to finish five challenges will also get pool party tickets.) For every additional five challenges you complete over the summer, you earn a chance to win one of our grand prizes. The program ends on August 19, so turn your final challenge card in by August 20 to be eligible for prizes.

June 20: Drumming Workshop
Feel the rhythm as you learn how to play drums with music teacher Linda Powell. *Additional program at 12:30pm*
June 27: Hands On presents “Geology Rocks”
Learn how to identify rocks and minerals and discover what treasures can be found nearby! *Additional program at 12:30pm*
July 11: KidSenses presents “Super Sonic Light Speed”
Go on a super-sonic adventure as you discover how light and sound work through several dazzling demonstrations!
July 18: Instrument Petting Zoo
Local musicians will bring their most prized possessions – their instruments – for you to learn about and experiment with during this interactive workshop.
July 25: Chimney Rock presents “Whooo’s That I Hear?”
What sounds do nocturnal animals make? Learn about and meet amphibians, opossums, and owls with a park ranger.
August 1: Cartooning Workshop
Unleash your creativity with local author and artist Steve Barr as he teaches you how to draw cartoon characters, animals, and more! *Additional program at 12:30pm*
August 8: Hoop Jam *SPECIAL VENUE: Stearns Park*
Meet at Stearns Park in Columbus to explore hoop dancing with Melanie MacNeil from Asheville Hoops. There will be jammin’ tunes and hoops for all to use at this event that promotes movement and dance. *Additional program at 12:30pm*
