Saluda Library:
Oct 27 – Owl Pellet Dissection w/ WNC Nature Center
There’s a lot you can learn from leftovers! This raptor-based program will teach the basics of owl biology, as well as have participants work in pairs or small groups to dissect a pellet collected from one of the Nature Center’s birds of prey! We will also learn how to identify the bones that we find inside, as well as meet a live animal guest.
Nov 3 – Coding with Dashbots w/ Zaniac
Students will learn the simple drag and drop coding language, Blockly, to program the Dashbot robot around a course. Blockly is an intuitive and visual way to learn how to code.
Nov 10 – The Great Coaster Challenge w/ Roper Mountain Science Center
Participants in this hands-on program will act as theme park engineers to design and build a prototype roller coaster for our theme park. Engineers will work in groups of 2-4 to plan and build their coaster. They will need to manage materials and resources, as well as time, to build a functioning roller coaster. At the end of the activity, we will give each group of engineers the chance to demonstrate their creation, and we will evaluate the success of each coaster.
Nov 17 – Bubble Science w/ Kidsenses
Why do bubbles float and pop? Try out different bubble blowers and see if you have what it takes to create a giant bubble!
