Pick up your challenge card at the library starting June 11 and mark each box when you complete the challenge. Get a prize at library when you finish five! (The first 60 participants to finish five challenges will also get pool party tickets.) For every additional five challenges you complete over the summer, you earn a chance to win one of our grand prizes. The program ends on August 19, so turn your final challenge card in by August 20 to be eligible for prizes.

June 18: Hoop Jam *SPECIAL VENUE: Saluda School Gym*
Meet at the Saluda School gym to explore hoop dancing with Melanie MacNeil from Asheville Hoops. There will be jammin’ tunes and hoops for all to use at this event that promotes movement, creativity, and dance.
July 2: Chimney Rock presents “Whooo’s That I Hear?”
What sounds do nocturnal animals make? Learn about and meet amphibians, opossums, and owls with a park ranger.
July 16: KidSenses presents “Super Sonic Light Speed”
Go on a super-sonic adventure as you discover how light and sound work through several dazzling demonstrations!
July 23: Rock Out with Sonia Brooks
Sing and tap out the rhythm during this hands-on musical experience with a folk musician.
August 6: Hands On presents “Geology Rocks”
Investigate the world beneath our feet. Learn how to identify rocks and minerals and discover what treasures can be found nearby!

Teen workshops are for rising 6th-12th graders only!

June 25: Teen Workshop: Fiesta Dips
Learn how to make guacamole and salsa during this spicy workshop followed by a tasting of your delicious creations.
July 9: Teen Workshop: Iron Chef
What amazing dish can you make with just five ingredients? Put your skills to the test with the ultimate cooking challenge.
July 30: Teen Workshop: Self-Defense
Learn basic self-defense techniques designed to improve your awareness, personal safety, and self-confidence.
