Teen programs are for rising 6th-12th graders only!

Pick up your challenge card at the library starting June 11 and mark each box when you complete the challenge. Get a prize at library when you finish five! (The first 60 participants to finish five challenges will also get pool party tickets.) For every additional five challenges you complete over the summer, you earn a chance to win one of our grand prizes. The program ends on August 19, so turn your final challenge card in by August 20 to be eligible for prizes.

June 21: Guitar Hero Tournament
Challenge other teens in a Guitar Hero tournament… Winner gets bragging rights for the rest of the summer and a trophy! We’ll also make guitar picks out of Shrinky Dink materials.
June 28: Hairspray & Pop Art
Create unique works of pop art while watching the 2007 version of the film, where teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.
July 5: Handbells Performance & Lyric Canvas Art
Experience a new type of music, performed by students from the Seventh Day Adventist School in Tryon. Afterwards, we’ll get artsy by painting our favorite song lyrics onto canvasses.
July 12: Across the Universe & Tie-Dye
Bring your own shirt to tie-dye and listen as the music of The Beatles forms the backdrop to this movie about a romance between an upper-class American girl and a poor British artist… Far out, dude!
July 19: Hamilton Party
Learn all about Alexander Hamilton! Play trivia, watch videos of the stage production, and make sheet music art to celebrate one of America’s Founding Fathers in hip-hop style.
August 2: High School Musical 2 & Locker Magnets
Sing along with Troy and Gabriela during the 2007 sequel while making magnets for your locker out of perler beads.
August 9: Empire Records Escape Room
Help rising rock star Seth find his song! He is supposed to debut the song live on The Tonight Show, but someone has stolen his work. Teens will have one hour to work together to find the song and meet Seth at the show before it starts!
