New Year’s Resolution Program Series at PCPL

COLUMBUS, N.C., (January 1, 2016) – Happy New Year from the Polk County Public Library! It’s January, which means it’s time to refresh and restart. The library is here to support you with a special event series at the Main Library in Columbus. Five resolution-themed programs will help you make positive lifestyle changes that will last through 2016 and beyond.

The program series kicks off on Wednesday, January 6th at 1:00pm with a brown bag lunch and nutrition discussion led by health advocates Amy Clouse and Melissa Holland. Amy and Melissa will lead a discussion focusing on making healthy food choices and give tips on making your 2016 resolutions successful throughout the entire year. Participants are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to this event.

Other events include a budgeting seminar with financial advisor Matt Aldrich on Thursday, January 14th; a beginner yoga class with instructor Lisa Corda on Thursday, January 21st; tips on eating healthy without dieting with NC State Cooperative Extension Agent Jimmi Buell on Friday, January 22nd; and a class focusing on natural health with essential oils taught by wellness advocate Jessica Orr on Wednesday, January 27th.

The library’s Cookbook Club will have a “healthy eating” theme at their January 11th meeting as well. The group meets on second Mondays at 12:00pm. Select a theme-related cookbook, prepare a dish from the book, and bring it to the meeting to share. Other upcoming themes include Asian in February and vegetarian in March.
