Kids birding program at Columbus Library

COLUMBUS, N. C., (January 12, 2026) Staff from the North Carolina Arboretum will present an educational Birding for Kids program on Tuesday, January 20th at 4pm at Columbus Library. Children ages 5-13 and their families are invited to learn all about birds, and the many different types that call Western North Carolina their home! We’ll also venture out on a bird walk (weather permitting), where we’ll learn how to use binoculars, search for evidence of birds, and learn some bird calls.

This event is part of ecoEXPLORE (Experiences Promoting Learning Outdoors for Research and Education), an incentive-based community science program for children in grades K-8. Developed by the NC Arboretum, this innovative program combines science exploration with kid-friendly technology to foster a fun learning environment for children while encouraging them to explore the outdoors and participate in community science.
