Virtual programs (and more!) at Polk County Public Libraries

COLUMBUS, N. C., (January 26, 2021) Are you looking for something fun to do at home? Polk County Public Libraries currently offer virtual programs every weekday, as well as two different Take & Make kits each week and a reading journal kit. Take & Make kits include materials to make a craft or do a STEM activity. Stop by Columbus or Saluda Library to pick up your kit each week and visit our website or Facebook page Monday-Friday for demo videos for kids, teens, and adults.

Videos include book talks, crafts, cooking demos, and STEM activities. Some upcoming Take & Make kits are threaded heart crafts for kids, snowball rocket science experiments for teens, and marbled embroidery for adults. The libraries also host a Facebook Live trivia event once a month with a $20 gift card for the winning team.

Polk County Public Libraries offers books, DVDs, music CDs, downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, public computers, wireless internet access, scanning, faxing, and printing. Special items available for checkout are educational LaunchPad tablets for children, board games, baking pans, cake decorating kits, and ecoEXPLORE backpacks for wildlife exploration, which include trail cams.

A variety of online resources are also offered, such as Transparent Language Online and LearningExpress Library, which provides standardized test preparation, career development, and more. Friends of the Polk County Public Libraries also have an ongoing book sale at Columbus Library during opening hours. To learn more, visit www.polklibrary.org.
