Local artist Ashleigh Bourgeois displays works at Saluda Library
SALUDA, N. C., (July 31, 2025) Local artist Ashleigh Bourgeois is displaying her paintings at Saluda Library through September 6th. Join her for a special reception on Tuesday, August 5th from 2-4pm to chat with the artist, view her work, and enjoy light refreshments.
Ashleigh was born and raised in southern Louisiana. In 2023, she and her husband packed up her family of four and moved to Saluda. Growing up, Ashleigh was greatly inspired by the art of her great grandmother Lorraine, great aunt Claudette, and friend Susan Rudisill. She always had a notebook she was drawing in, was involved in all the art designs of clubs when she was in school, and with the help of her art teacher, had a piece published in a local cookbook. Ashleigh spent many summers in Oregon with her grandmother and godmother growing up, two women who have continually encouraged her to explore the concept of art in many forms. A lot of the art Ashleigh creates is inspired by experiences she has had and people she has met. She enjoys many mediums and feels that there is always more to learn and try. Her favorite place to paint is outside. Ashleigh looks forward to teaching her kids the love of art and self-expression and hopes to continue to show them to chase after their dreams by doing so herself.
