Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis is in the Library!

COLUMBUS, N. C., (June 4, 2018) – Rock and roll into summer at the Polk County Public Libraries! On Tuesday, June 12, the 2018 Summer Reading Program, “Libraries Rock,” will kick off with a Sock Hop at the Columbus Library. This blast from the past will have both the young and the young at heart be-boppin’ back to the 1950s for a night of swinging fun. Come dressed in your poodle skirts and leather jackets. From 5:30-6:00pm, get into the groove and learn traditional dances from the 1950s with instructors from Blue Ridge Dance Lab. At 6:00pm, dance the night away with music provided by Elvis tribute artist, Chris Bishop, and his blue suede shoes. There will be a 50s costume contest, root beer floats, Twister, hopscotch, a limbo contest, vinyl record crafts, a Jello recipe potluck, and opportunities to learn more about the 2018 Summer Reading Program.

Polk County Public Libraries has two libraries, Columbus Library and Saluda Library, as well as outreach services.
