Free kids events in Saluda this month

SALUDA, N. C., (June 8, 2026) There will be two free events for children in Saluda this month, presented by Polk County Public Libraries and sponsored by the Friends of the Libraries! Both events will be held in the auditorium of Saluda Elementary School.

On Thursday, June 18th at 2pm, Hobey Ford will share his Golden Rod Puppets! Hobey is known for his excellence in puppetry performance and craft as well as his skill as a master storyteller. He designs and constructs all of his puppets as well as the beautiful sets that surround them!

Mad Science of Charlotte will present “Explore Lost Worlds” on Thursday, June 25th at 2pm. This program will send explorers on an expedition across the ages! Learn about archaeology and paleontology while practicing techniques for uncovering the secrets of forgotten worlds.

Don’t forget to sign up for the 2026 Summer Learning Program at Columbus Library or Saluda Library! The learning incentive program runs through August 2nd. Kids and teens can set and achieve two learning goals each week to earn brag tags, entries into the grand prize drawings, and donations to local organizations on their behalf. Adults can complete challenges to earn a prize (socks, a tote bag, or a mug, while supplies last) and entries into the grand prize drawings. Visit polklibrary.org/slp2026 to learn more.
