Local artist Catherine Fairbanks displays works at Saluda Library
SALUDA, N. C., (May 23, 2025) Mandalas and labyrinths created by local artist Catherine Fairbanks are on display at Saluda Library through June 14th. Catherine will be at the library for an artist reception on Monday, June 2nd from 2-4pm. Light refreshments will be served.
Catherine finds that designing, painting, and coloring mandalas offers healing qualities, as does walking and painting labyrinths. A mandala, meaning circle in Sanskrit, is designed in a circle and may contain symbols or represent thoughts, dreams, or a problem. Labyrinths are designed as walking meditations and often have a circular design. Catherine paints labyrinths in many colors with a symbol such as a bird, a flower, or a word in the center. There is a Chartres model labyrinth she designed at First Congregational Church in Laurel Park that is open to the public. Contact Catherine at catherine.fairbanks@yahoo.com if you would like a personalized labyrinth painting.
