Learn to grow mushrooms at Columbus Library

COLUMBUS, N. C., (November 14, 2024) Lizza Bixby, Director of Education at Mushroom Mountain in Easley, South Carolina, will present “Learn to Grow Gourmet Mushrooms” on Monday, November 25th at 5pm at Columbus Library.

In this informative, hands-on workshop, the mycologist and mushroom enthusiast will unveil the mysteries of growing mushrooms at home. Lizza will discuss two growing methods – one for recycling kitchen waste like used coffee grounds to grow mushrooms like Oysters indoors, and another for growing mushrooms like Shiitake in fresh hardwood logs. Come ready to get dirty; you’ll be participating in the demonstration! The first 40 participants to arrive will take home a mini mushroom fruiting cup. No registration is required for this event.
