Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale at PCPL

COLUMBUS, N.C., (October 4, 2017) – It’s that time of the year again! If you’re a reader who loves to shop for bargains, the Friends of Polk County Public Libraries fall book sale is the place for you! The sale will be open to the public at the Columbus Library on Thursday, October 12 from 9am-7pm; Friday, October 13 from 9am-5pm; and Saturday, October 14 from 9am-3pm.

Those who are already Friends of the Library members or those who would like to join (starting as low as $10 for an individual annual membership) will have first choice at a special preview sale on Wednesday, October 11 from 4pm-7pm. The Friends of the Library welcome new members so they can expand the assistance they provide to Polk County Public Libraries. Please join the organization to celebrate and enhance reading and literacy in our community. You can support library programs, participate in book clubs, and help with book sales!

Books, DVDs, and CDs withdrawn from the library or donated by the community will be sold with most items under $1.00. The $5.00 bag sale is from 9am-12pm on Saturday, October 14. Starting at noon on Saturday, selected books will be given away for free.

All proceeds from the book sale are used by the Friends of the Library to support Polk County Public Libraries through projects such as contributing to the children’s Summer Reading Program and other events, sponsoring development opportunities for the library staff, holding appreciation events for the library volunteers, and planning free programs and speakers of general interest for the community.

Polk County Public Libraries has two libraries, Columbus Library and Saluda Library, as well as outreach services. PCPL offers books, movies, music, audiobooks, and downloadable eBooks and audiobooks, as well as public computers and wireless internet access.
