Local artist Shawn Kelly Matthew displays works at Saluda Library

SALUDA, N. C., (September 9, 2021) During September and October, Saluda Library is featuring the work of local artist Shawn Kelly Matthew. Stop by the library to see and purchase her artwork during regular business hours. Saluda Library is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

Shawn, a resident of Polk County for over 40 years, has always been interested in art. From porcelain ceramics and sumi-e in Japan, her interest graduated to photography and carving, and then evolved toward fine art. Shawn has studied with Bill Ryan, Dale McEntire, and Vicki Van Vynckt. She has experimented with watercolors, pastels, acrylics, oils, and landscape photography. Older structures, wildflowers, local landscapes, and commissioned pet portraits are her typical choice of subjects. She is a member of Tryon Painters and Sculptors.
