Community Creations

Each quarter, the library will offer free kits with supplies to complete a community art project, or a craft that benefits a local organization! This program is replacing the monthly Take & Make kits and Spice It Up samples.

July 2024: Bookmark Design Contest

For the first community art project, we invite you to design a bookmark! Pick up your free kit starting July 1st at Columbus Library or Saluda Library.

Your design should let us know why you love or what you love about PCPL, or fit with the theme “Libraries – More Than Meets The Eye!” Winning designs will be made into bookmarks to be distributed during September, Library Card Sign-Up Month.

Rules:

• Designs must be your original work and can’t depict any copyrighted characters.
• Designs may be horizontal or vertical.
• Designs should stay within the rectangular design on the paper provided in the kit.
• Submit the paper with your design to Columbus Library or Saluda Library by August 3rd, 2024.

THIS CLASS IS FOR RISING 6TH-12TH GRADERS ONLY. Join local artist Becky Rickenbaker as she guides us step-by-step in creating a colorful forest painting. Registration is REQUIRED for this event and space is limited – email Jen at jdickenson@polklibrary.org to sign up. The 2024 Summer Learning Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Polk County Public Libraries.
