August’s Spice: Garlic Salt
Garlic salt is delicious in stir-fries, sauces, casseroles, soups, stews, and marinades. It can also be used as a savory seasoning for meat, chicken, or seafood and makes a great base for dry rubs for barbecued ribs or steaks. Add garlic salt to dips, potatoes, vegetables, pasta, eggs, dressings, salsas, and more!
Recipe: Basil & Garlic Tortellini
INGREDIENTS
- 1 package (8 ounces) cheese tortellini
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 package (8 ounces) sliced mushrooms
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 2 teaspoons basil
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS
- Cook tortellini as directed on package. Drain well.
- Meanwhile, heat oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add mushrooms; cook and stir 5 minutes.
- Stir in tomatoes, basil, garlic salt, and pepper. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low; simmer 5 minutes.
- Add tortellini and cheese; toss to coat well. Sprinkle with additional cheese, if desired.
