April’s Spice: Sumac

Recipe: Pita Chips

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 pitas or pita pockets
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove minced or 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp sumac
  • coarse salt sea

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 400* F
  2. In a small bowl mix, together oil and garlic. Brush over pita and then season lightly with salt.
  3. Cut each pita into 6-8 triangles. Place pita triangles on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until just starting to brown.
  5. Immediately sprinkle with sumac.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Will keep for 1-2 days in an airtight container at room temperature.
